Is Diabetes painful?

Diabetes can be a very draining disease with a lot of pain associated with it. The pain associated with diabetes is cause by the damage that occurs to the nerve system of the body as blood vessels become destroyed. This causes signals that that travel to the central nervous system and brain to become altered and cause false pain, or make real pain more intense. The pain associated with diabetes can cause an enormous amount of discomfort as a result.
Over the counter medications are available to reduce the pain associated with diabetes. While these medications can help alleviate pain and discomfort, exercise is always the best medicine. Take daily walks, and try to swim three times a week at a local pool to help increase your physical activity without adding to much pain or discomfort from exercise on top. If you prefer herbal remedies, there are many herbs that can help reduces the associated pain and improve other symptoms such as drowsiness and lack of sleep as well.
Always remember that your doctor should be your first and last person to consult with before making final decisions on medications or treatments to reduce the pain associated with diabetes. Everyone is an individual and your particular case of diabetes may be treated better with certain options. Check the Internet for options and then consult with your doctor to see what his professional opinion is on the drug or herb.
