What does it mean by Inverse Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a painful skin disorder that leaves a flaky white appearance on the skin. One may surmise then that inverse psoriasis causes the opposite effect, and you would be close to correct. Inverse psoriasis actually only appears to cause an opposite effect because of where it is located, but otherwise is exactly like it’s sibling. The change of appearance is due to the fact that inverse psoriasis occurs in the folds of skin when the body’s joints bend into. Since these areas of the body are hidden from sight and the air, the flaky skin from inverse psoriasis has no where to go, and no air to dry it. This causes it to buildup and creates a film of dead skin and sweat that causes a reddened rash in the fold of skin. This is worsened by activities like exercise which increase the flow of sweat and friction to the affected areas.
Inverse psoriasis does differ from psoriasis in that is is not necessarily hereditary. Health care professionals have concluded that inverse psoriasis can afflict anyone, particularly in the area of their genitals. The risk of inverse psoriasis increases with the individuals weight as well. If you suffer from severe itching of the genitals you may in fact suffer from inverse psoriasis. Consult your physician if you suffer from symptoms like these and bring up the possibility of inverse psoriasis. There are many available treatments on the market today that could improve the condition or put it into remission
