How does cigarette smoking affect sperm count and Sexual Health

Smoking cigarette is injurious for health. It has been proven by scientific research that excessive smoking can adversely affect your sexual health. The habit of cigarette smoking is an addictive one, and generally tends to cause physical dependency. Cigarette is primarily composed of nicotine and according to some experts this nicotine is the primary cause of reduced sperm count in males. Nicotine adversely affects the reproductive capability of males and leads to sexual abnormalities like a decrease in the ejaculation volume etc. It is also known to cause problems in the sperm mobility too. So in order to ensure that your sexual health is not impaired, try to refrain from such addictive substances. This Nicotine is inhaled not only during cigarette smoking but also during tobacco usage. So it is equally important to refrain from tobacco consumption as well. Poor sexual health resulting from cigarette smoking is characterized by frequent fits of depression, reduced sexual desires and dramatic decrease in sperm count in the human testis.
Basically the mechanism behind the reduced sperm count is that the overall volume of blood flowing to the testis gets reduced due to excessive cigarette smoking. Sexual health is negatively affected in the sense that the concentration of all the male reproductive hormones decreases in the body. If this problem is not identified well in advance it may even lead to complete impotency or permanent erectile problem. Research has proved that cigarette smoking has led to decreased sexual desires and impairment of sexual health in males as well as females. So, one should avoid the habit of cigarette smoking in order to avoid complications of reduced sperm count.
