Helpful Tips For Preventing Athlete's Foot

Athlete's foot can be painful, damaging, and just plain irritating on your feet. It can also lead to other foot health problems like fungus and infection. It can be both hard and expensive to find a good foot treatment. It can be prevented fairly easily with good foot hygiene.
Wash your feet every time you shower. Make sure you get in between your toes as this is where most infections start. If you get an infection you’ll need an expensive foot treatment. Give your feet air by taking your shoes off when you can, and purchasing footwear that allows air exchange to your feet. Do not wear socks that are any thicker than the season calls for. While you don’t want your feet to be cold, you don’t want them to sweat either. Sweat can create conditions perfect for athlete's foot to form. If you must, apply some talcum powder. Make sure you wash your towels and bedding frequently, and never re-wear socks. Germs will build up in these breeding friendly places and reinfect your feet every time you wash them. Home treatment is the best foot treatment.
Outside of the home, make sure you do not exchange footwear with other people. Most people don’t go up to each other and have long discussions about foot hygiene, so you have no idea what their idea of ‘clean’ is. They may have problems with their feet and just accept it, without ever buying foot treatment. If you frequent a gym, make sure you wear something to protect your feet like sandals or flip-flops.
Make sure to follow these tips and you should be able to easily escape the athlete’s foot curse. If for some reason you do catch it, you can buy medicated foot treatment from a local pharmacy. Make sure you get a foot treatment that actually lists medicinal ingredients, as true medications must list these separately. If you don’t see a separate list, the ‘medicated’ is likely just a marketing scheme
