Can Clonidine help people stop smoking?

We all know that smoking is very injurious to health and we are aware of its consequences. A major problem a chain smoker faces is to overcome the addiction. Nicotine is the substance which is responsible for the addiction and when a person doesn’t smoke then he starts to panic. Nicotine and tobacco becomes an essential part of smoker consumption and if he or she doesn’t have a puff then they find themselves confined in jeopardy. It is not that easy to stop smoking instantly as we need a proper substitute to replace the savor of nicotine. Clonidine is basically used to lower high blood pressure problems but some how it is also discovered that it reduces tobacco craving.

USA Food and Drug Administration have not approved Clonidine as the primary drug to cease tobacco intake. Yet, study and report has shown that calms down the nerve when a smoker craves for tobacco and reduces the affinity. Clonidine doesn’t really stop a person from smoking but it acts as a good substitute in almost 90% of the cases.

Just remember if you take Clonidine then you have to leave all the first choice or recommended medicines such as varenicline etc. Clonidine can have a huge impact and at the same can have no impact but the side affect ratio is much higher than a primary medicine. The reason behind this fluctuating state is the substance works according to the body of the person.
The inference is very clear; a person can stop smoking only if he uses Clonidine with High Blood pressure problem as well.
